Reviews: Reminds me of West Coast HC/punk a while back. Germs, early thrash sound. A bit sloppy, but it has a certain quality that draws me to it, maybe it's the basicness of the music, and a combination of the out of tuneness, and the female vocals. Great lyrics. -Frank Pearn (from FOE #8, Spring 1987) ANTI-SCRUNTI FACTION champions the grunge-o-rama attack on their debut LP. The lyrics and punky spirit of this band go a long way, but the sameness of the songwriting detracts from the album's ultimate impact. I'll tell you one thing: if the whole album were as hot as "Suicide Note," an impassioned thrasher, they'd have dynamite here. -Steve Spinali (from Maximum Rocknroll #34, March 1986) Remember the Wrecks? All-girl punkers from Reno who insisted that "punk is an attitude." Well, these girls (and one guy) project that, so much so that I'm sure that is why Hudley at Flipside loves them so. Their lyrics are either typical "hate Reagan's policies" or less typical "boys are usually screwed up so don't put out for 'em," but they're delivered with such enthusiasm that they're actually quite infectious. The music is slow-fast thrash with some cool bass lines. Though all the lyrics are serious, the band's photos show them goofing around and grinning. I'd really like to see them live and probably wouldn't even feel guilty for lusting after them. -Shane Williams (from Factsheet Five #19, August 1986) |
