HOW TO ABANDON EARTH LP 01. The Ballad of Mr. Brooks 02. Clean Plate Club 03. Gasping 04. Income 05. Old 06. How to Abandon 07. The More I Take 08. Pinto the Wonder Horse 09. Poisoned Man Format: LP Released: 1986 |
Reviews: Around for a while but finally out with vinyl, this highly eclectic band debuts their sounds: post-punk, industrial, folk-punk, and more. Following in the footsteps of TOILING MIDGETS, SLEEPERS and even FLIPPER, you'll find musicianship and intelligence at work here. Comes with booklet. -Tim Yohannan (from Maximum Rocknroll #33, February 1986) The band broke up a few years ago, but thi energetically passionate album is still available. This is a chip of the artistic underground in the Bay Area, communicating a general feeling of social unrest through lyrics as others do through graphics (which are also present here) or cryptic stores. The minor-key foreboding rock here blends well with the anti-giantism lyrics in the enclosed booklet of thoughts. Socially responsible but worth a listen anyhow. -Mike Gunderloy (from Factsheet Five #24, November 1987) |
