Reviews: Still as great and still as diverse, this SUNS LP is almost as good as their first. It's a mixed bag with half psycho rockers and half melodic country-type beats, which is OK but not as overwhelming as before. However, some of these songs are real standouts in terms of originality and intensity. Still worthwhile. -Ruth Schwartz (from Maximum Rocknroll #42, November 1986) Imagine Sean Penn when he was busier sucking bong loads instead of you-know-who, in his archetypical stoned surfer role saying, "Man these guys are the kind, let's party!" And they are, godlike guitar noise with a sense of humor. Forget the Mission of Burma connection, Mission of Burma were never this balls-out on any vinyl I'm aware of. Not too many bands around that can use guitar noise to as good an effect. -Shane Williams (from Factsheet Five #20, November 1986) |
