Reviews: I love the sound and of course I like the name too. Yeah, it's a lot like the Replacements' harder stuff. Peter Searcy has the same kind of heartfelt but slightly horse Paul Westerburg voice and that rhythm to his delivery. Also there are similar musical arrangements but they lack the great variety of musical styles, daring, and that extra cutting edge that the best Replacements material offers. They make the songs work though, without one being bad. It'll be interesting to see what they do next. I sure would like to find out. -Thomas Siegel (from Ink Disease #10, Winter 1985) Now that the REPLACEMENTS have wimped out, where do you go for that great, snotty, teenage garage music? Louisville, KY, apparently, the home of these young'uns who not only manage to capture the snarling adolescent howl but also have a sense of structure and melody in all their songs. Highly recommended. -Dogtowne (from Maximum Rocknroll #32, January 1986) |
