UNHOLY PASSION 12" 01. Unholy Passion 02. All Hell 03. Moribund 04. The Hungry End 05. I Am Misery Label: Plan 9 Records Cat #: PL9-05 Format: 12" Released: 1985 |
Reviews: This second EP from Samhain now establishes them as the new leaders of horror rock. "Unholy Passion" is a spooky tune that is basically about sex. There's a new version of "All Hell Breaks Loose" and it's slowed down considerably and the drum work is very heavy and pounding. They do the song justice. The production is 100 times better than the "Initium" EP. They still have that dungeon sound on the guitar and vocals, but the music desn't suffer from it anymore. A definite improvement. -Ron Philips (from Task #2, June 1985) This one's kinda frustrating. Danzig and crew still manage to put that wonderful frantic MISFIT yelp on "All Hell" and "Hungry End." But it seems like they're too comfortable. I'd really like to see them hook up with a new producer who would give them more of a challenge in the studio. Still great, but the possibilities make you want more. -Dogtowne (from Maximum Rocknroll #24, April 1985) |
