Reviews: Once again Kat Arthur demonstrates that she just might have the best Rock and Roll throat that L.A. has to offer. Although "Interior Hearts" has a slightly softer edge than their previous recordings, with songs like "Too High" sounding more like Blondie than Janis Joplin, the band has not lost their straight ahead quality. Lyrically the mood has also shifted, from stark urban poetic landscapes to a more personal level, conveying aspects of a relationship. If the band can hold together, which they seem to be doing quite nicely, their next release will undoubtedly be on a major label. More than any band I can think of, Leagal Weapon deserves that oppertunity. -Steve Alper (from Ink Disease #10, Winter 1985) Like fellow LA natives X, Legal Weapon clearly make their move toward a more accessible sound that seems neither contrived or forced. From the opening title cut to hard rockin' numbers as "No Direction," Legal Weapon connect. Kat's vocals have grown tremendously from the "Your Weapon" LP as have Brian Hansen's guitarwork. Strong songwriting and lyrics throughout. Worthwhile. -Mike Gitter (from xXx #12, Fall 1985) |
