Reviews:

This tape is a great introduction to one of the fastest emerging hardcore scenes in this country (or any). Before listening to Growing Pains, the only hardcore bands I had ever heard from San Jose had been Grim Reality and Whipping Boy (both included here) but I really like all of the bands on the tape. A lot of the songs sound like they were recorded at garage rehearsals (lots of unidentified background sounds) but that only adds to this tape's charm. My favorites are The Bruces, Ribzy, and Los Olvidados. It's only $4 for 8 bands, 34 songs, and a xeroxed factzine with some of the lyrics. What a deal!
-Steve Hu (from Truly Needy Vol. 2 No. 2, May 1983)

This cassette hails from San Jose. It features Ribzy, the Faction, Los Olvidados, Whipping Boy, Executioner, Grim Reality, the Unaware, the Bruces. Man is this rad or what? All the bands are hardcore except maybe the Bruces. The Faction and Ribzy are definitely the best bands on the tape. Buy it or be a fuckin' fool.
-Jone (from Paranoia #6, Spring 1983)

There's quite a conglomeration of styles and sound quality on this South Bay compilation. It's got thrash, HM punk, garage punk, pop-punk, old punk, etc. The eight bands featured are Faction, Grim Reality, Ribzy, Executioner, the Bruces, Whipping Boy, the Unaware, and Los Olvidados.
