Reviews: Yeah I know this is sorta old but what the hey, it's great. I really jive on this almighty farout disc. My fave songs are Tuna Taco, Homosexual and Jerry Curlan (not to mention every other song on the record!). Get it if you haven't already. -Jone (from Paranoia #6, Spring 1983) Some of the best, funnest, rip-roaringest hardcore to come out in awhile. These guys ain't too serious, but the music stands as the sole strength. THey talk about saving Hitler's cock, gas chambers, steak knices, and coffins, not to mention tuna tacos. The Angry Samoans are what Genocide tried to be, fun and furious, but the Samoarns make it work. Best songs are "Gas Chamber", "Steak Knices" and an enjoyably bad version of the 60's classic "Time Has Come Today". Most songs are about 45 seconds to a minute long, so it's not so much an LP as it is a long EP. Buy it and have fun it's worth the price for the cover alone... -Brian Armstrong (from Idle Thoughts #9, December 1982) The best garage punk album of the year. The Samoans have once again produced a brilliant amalgam of 60s punk, 80s punk, and Heavy Metal. The punchy uptempo sound, buttressed by three guitars and extremely belligerent mid-60s lead vocals is so dense that it's well-nigh impenetrable, but it's the Samoans' exceptionally retarded sense of humor that really accounts for their perverse appeal. This brain-damaged approach is vastly better than the commercialized punk and self-conscious Satanic crap which currently dominates the L.A. scene, so don't miss out. -Jeff Bale (from Maximum Rock'n'Roll #3, November/December 1982) |
