Reviews:

First NorCal comp in a while, this one features some East Bay bands (SPECIAL FORCES, BONELESS ONES, FANG), Sacto's TALES OF TERROR, Santa Cruz's BL'AST, and SF's VERBAL ABUSE. Lost of metal or "heavy" punk, some thrash, and lots of power. Good recording brings out the best in these bands.
-Tim Yohannan (from Maximum Rocknroll #33, February 1986)

This is one Bay Area compilation not overloaded with political correctness, Fang and Tales of Terror being renowned as two of the rudest groups around. Tales of Terror sacrifices intensity for novelty, covering "Let It Be" and singing about killing an errant girlfriend -- pretty yawnable. But there are two cuts on this LP that rip, both by Verbal Abuse, and the Boneless Ones make the old standby "Train Kept A-Runnin'" into a beer song, "Kegs Kept A-Flowin'." Bl'ast are pretty good heavy punk and Special Forces are more typical Bay Area politicore. Fang have a couple of decent cuts, bringing them in right behind Verbal Abuse. All in all a decent compilation but you would serve your collection better by picking up LPs by these bands.
