Corporate Deathburger
Everyone knows the "banana connection" between U.S. corporations and Central America but now it is rivaled by the "hamburger connection." U.S. fast food giants buy almost all the beef grown ni Central America, causing: a huge drop in beef consumption by Central Americans (Guatemalans eat 23 pounds of beef a year compared to 123 pounds per person in the U.S.); massive deforestation of Central America to create grazing land; contamination of the beef and the land by herbicides such as Agent Orange; and, a widening of the huge gap in income between the areas' rich and poor.
